Natural/Technical Unit
Central Idea:
Musicians use different techniques to create music
Lines of Inquiry:

  1. Written symbols can communicate musical ideas
  2. Identifying patterns within music helps us to make music
  3. Techniques and conventions can help us to create music

During this unit students developed their musical notating skills through learning experiences that supported them to correctly draw and label space and lines notes on the treble stave.

Students had the opportunity to explore ‘Euphonious’ notes on a xylophone to support their understanding of different techniques that can be used when creating music.

The students needed to demonstrate their knowledge learnt throughout the unit by creating a two part rhythmic melodic composition. Where they created a rhythmically sound melody on the top part and used ‘Euphonious’ notes on the bottom part.
