We can use musical elements to define ourselves

- Musicians can use elements to create a perception of themselves
- Music is created to influence its listeners
During this unit, the students developed their understanding of the central idea by exploring how the musical elements can create a particular perception.
The students participated in learning experiences where they were required to listen pieces of music from a range of genres. They needed to write about what they thought the musician’s attributes and personalities might have been and give reasons as to why they thought this, just from listening and analysing the musical elements of the music.
The students were then shown a picture or video clip of the musicians to see if their thoughts and reasoning matched and reflected on their initial thoughts/ideas and how they might have changed.
